Regional Transfer Policies

Your Breeze Card must have an operator-specific fare product or stored cash value in its purse to begin a trip. You may transfer for free to (or from) a MARTA rail/bus service from any of the suburban/express transit providers (GCT, CCT, or GRTA Xpress). However, regional transfer policies do not allow direct free transfers between the suburban/express transit providers. You must travel on MARTA directly before or after one of the suburban/express transit providers in order to collect a free transfer.

Note:If you do not have a Breeze Card, you will have to pay the full-priced fare for each transit service you board.

Transfer Information

GRTA Xpress, CCT, and GCT all have connection points at major MARTA stations to allow convenient access for passengers to connect to/from MARTA's extensive rail and bus network.

The Breeze Card... your all-access pass!

Breeze is accepted on all transit services, and riders must use the Breeze Card if they want to transfer between systems. In many cases, customers can get free transfers between MARTA and the other services if they have purchased an individual agency's fare products on Breeze.

Transfer FAQs

Question: Can I get a free transfer between CCT and GCT buses?

Answer: No, in order to transfer between any of the suburban/express operators (GCT, CCT, GRTA Xpress), you must ride MARTA between the two suburban/express transit services.

Question: How long is my free transfer valid?

Answer: Free transfers between transit operators are valid for varying lengths of time. Here's a quick look at how long transfers are valid:

  • Transfer from MARTA: 3 hours
  • Transfer from GCT: 1.5 hours
  • Transfer from CCT: 3 hours
  • Transfer from GRTA: 3 hours

Question: Why are transit fares so complicated?

Answer: Unfortunately, figuring out which fare to buy and where it will get you can be challenging when you cross jurisdictional boundaries. The region's transit operators are working together to make this process simpler. But, in the meantime, be sure to take advantage of free transfers between MARTA and the other operators with the Breeze Card.
